Hilda M. Sarver

Hilda Marie Green was born on June 15, 1935, to the late parents of Houston and Beulah Green in Sugar Grove, KY. The family moved to Bowling Green, KY where she would live throughout her lifetime. She was always the smallest one on the block, but smarts enough to win your heart. Who would have believed that within this little bitty child, so much life would develop into a mountain of love. Impressing people was not her goal. Her goal was to be remembered for being fair to everyone, treating everyone the way she wanted to be treated. Words of wisdom: “I love everybody and I want everybody to love me! I don't want anyone to do without and I want them to have the best!" Loved serving her church, Hilda was an Usher, a Missionary, Choir member, Church Mother, and the Head person over the Church kitchen. Her tenure of at least 50 years as Church Clerk was under the leadership of Rev. Mitchell Lewis, Rev. Carter, Rev. Robert Brown, Rev. Fred Hill, Rev. Thomas Anthony, Rev. James Turner, and Rev. Timothy Stanley. Dedication of time and the best foundation was in God’s work inside and outside the Church. She saw the need for a community building to serve the residents during times family homes did not accommodate large family gatherings, deaths, and special occasions. She shared her idea with the Executive Director and was approved by the Board of Commissioners that Ms. Hilda’s Hospitality House was born. Annies Place is a food & clothing bank in which she was the Director and renamed “Miss Annie's Place." Other community services include Foster Grandparent Program, Bowling Green Group Home Mentor. Woman of Achievement Award-(Lifetime Achievement Award), Jefferson Award-(Public Service), Daily Point of Light Award-( Honoring an Individual creating change in Communities), Ora F. Porter Community Service Award-(Community Outstanding Service), Prince & Cora Mack Humanitarian Award NAACP Bowling Green/Warren Co. Branch. Proceeded in death by Son: Kenneth Donnell Morrow; Daughter: Darlene Rucker; Parents: Houston & Beulah Green; Siblings: Carolyn Withrow, Katherine Wilson, Winnie Herndon, Wilbur Smith, R T Green, Bobby J. Green, Sr. & Ebon Ray Green, Sr. A Special Companion: Ed Oldham Cherished survivors, son, Danny Morrow; daughters, Kathy (Rev. Robert) Houchins, Ruth Morrow, Beverly (Rev.
