Donald E. "Peanut" Halcomb

Donald Edward Halcomb transitioned suddenly from earthly life to eternal life on April 06, 2024, in Silver Spring Maryland at the Medistar Montgomery Hospital. Donald was afflicted by a Pulmonary Embolism. Donald was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky on August 03, 1956, to the late James E. Halcomb and Wilma J. Halcomb. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother. Donald was lovely, nicked name Peanut, a nickname given to him by his father. Donald had a special cousin, Harold Halcomb, known in his early years as “Cracker Jack” -And so it was Peanut, Popcorn and Cracker Jack. At a young age Donald attended the Friendship Baptist Church in Logan County, Kentucky and became a member under the late Bishop Shobe. At age 13, Donald accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was later baptized in a “Farmer’s Creek” along with his siblings, cousins and friends. Donald was educated in the public school system, where he graduated from Bowling Green High School. Donald leaves behind 5 children; Caprisha, Ambrosia, Donald Jr., Kendra and Kayla. Donald relocated to Silver Spring, Maryland in 1998. He attended the People’s Community Baptist Church under the guidance of the late T.J. Baltimore and continued under Dr. Rev. Haywood Robinson III until his death. Donald’s favorite quotes, “It “aint” what I do, it’s what God does.” “We determined how we live, and God determines how long we live.” Donald’s employment history includes the Washington Post, the National Institute of Health (NIH) and Kaiser Permanente. Donald had full retirement in January 2023. Donald was the biggest “Jokester” he loved making his family laugh. He loved the land; he loved planting and watching things grow. Donald was admired by many for his lawn care skills. He enjoyed fishing, watching football games, and the Women's basketball games. He was a big fan of the New York Giants and the Golden State Warriors. He enjoyed watching “old Western” movies and boxing. His favorite athlete was the great Muhammad Ali. Donald leaves to rejoice his memories his sisters, Sue, Gloria, Sharon, Teresa, Mary and Christie. Donald leaves behind three very devoted brother in-laws, Daniel Robinson, David Adams, Edward Payne and a host of grandchildren, great grand-children, nieces and nephews.
