Danny O. Carothers

Danny O'Neal Carothers was born, February 28, 1961, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, a son of the late Alvin Carothers and Frances Fant Carothers. He was a 1979 graduate of Bowling Green High School where he played football and basketball for the Purples. As a young man Danny was baptized and joined the Eleventh Street Baptist Church, where he was very active in many positions. In these later years Danny was worshipping with Transformation Christian Center, while laboring in God’s field. From an early age Danny enjoyed sitting around older men with an eagerness to learn. As time passed Danny knew there was much for him to do in this community, and for him to share with those that he felt needed encouragement, a friend, a mentor, a COACH. Not just a coach on the field but a coach in life. (If he ain’t the GOAT, he definitely fits the description.) Danny’s calling to be a beacon was shared in so many ways, whether you crossed paths as a part of Westside, Warren County Youth Football League, Boys to Men, Warren County Athletics, Housing Authority, BG Purples Athletics, Megan’s Mobile Grocery, The Foundry, Parker Bennett Elementary, or Platinum Limo, a profound impact was left with you. Danny was recognized as Coach of the Year by USA Today in 2008, Trailblazers 2008, Hometown Hero 2022, and Black Achievers 2023. The selfless and beloved life of Danny came to what we would say all too soon, as God said “well done good and faithful servant “as he joined those passed before him on January 21, 2025; his parents Alvin & Frances Carothers; grandchildren, JaTyvan, Dakota and Taniyah; brothers, Randy Carothers, Jimmy Carothers and Chris Carothers; grandparents, Buford & Ida Carothers, Robert Fant & Virgie Bailey. To cherish the memory of Danny O'Neal Carothers he leaves his children, Andreas (Tamieka) Carothers, Tavis (Tianah) Barber, Delana (Justin) Sweeney, Charisse Walters, Ashley (Jonathan) Brown, LaTrice (Bryan) Carothers, and Malik Carothers; grandchildren, Talyn, Natavia, Jaylin, Taylor, Jocelyn, Trevia, Tylan, Tre'tavion, Shatavia, JaTyiah, KaRyn, Ahzerion, Easton, Jonah, Josiah, Ezra, Kaprice, Amauri, Kamarion, Trinity, Dre'mail, Justice, Adrean, Dre'Niaha, Jude, Dayla, Dayln, Adante and KaJarius; great grand-children, Blake, Damarion, Lei'lani, Tracetyn, Milano, DayAnna, Noylan, Kaycen, and Malani; sisters, Tracy (Bobby) Whitney, Shannon (Myrick) Byrd; special friend, Candace Sweatt Covington; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
