Mattie A. Whitlock White

Mattie A. Whitlock White 83 departed this life Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. at the Hospice House in Bowling Green, Kentucky after a lengthy illness. Mattie, born 1929 in Henderson, Kentucky, was the daughter of Frankie Hanley and Anna Lee Green. Mattie attended Douglas High School in Henderson, Kentucky. She attended Western Kentucky University and took several courses in Early Childhood Development and Family Counseling while still working. Mattie united with Christ at Seventh Street Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson, Kentucky. Upon moving to Bowling Green, she joined New Bethel Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky and later joined First Baptist Richpond. Mrs. White served her community through Southern Kentucky Head Start Program, BRASS (Barren River Area Safe Space), Senior Worker Program and Experience Works until her illness. Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Frankie Hanley and Anna Lee Green; her husband, Ollie White; daughter, Deborah M. Buford; brothers, George Green, James Green and Chauncey Green, Charles Hanley; and sister, Mary Adams. Mattie is survived by seven sons, Charles Whitlock, II of Atlanta, Georgia, Rev. Robert (Carole) Whitlock of Evansville, Indiana, Rev. Ronald (Rev. Sharon) Whitlock of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Rev. Leslie (Kathy) Whitlock of Frankfort, Kentucky, Stevan Whitlock of Los Angeles, California, Arlie (Takumi) White and Lawrence (Patrina) White both of Bowling Green, Kentucky; five daughters, Anna (James) Beason and Marilyn Whitlock, both of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dr. Janet (Arthur) Cobb of Cincinnati, Ohio, Karen (Michael) Ashley of Antioch, Tennessee, Kimberley White of Bowling Green, Kentucky and stepdaughter, Julia (Ernest) Ferguson, Franklin, Kentucky; 26 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Robert Hanley of Saint Louis, Missouri; sisters, Ophelia Emma Jane Jackson, Los Angeles, California, Charlotte Taylor, Norma Trammill and Majorie Fletcher all of Indianapolis, Indiana and Lola Brown, Oakwood Village, Ohio. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special sister in law, Rev. Peggy Vogel, Kirkwood, Missouri and 1 brother inlaw and 1 sister inlaw. -Your friends at Burnam and Son
