Harriett J. Byrd
July 8, 1936 - July 4, 2020
Mrs. Harriett Jeanette (Babylove) Hampton Byrd was born July 8, 1936, in Bowling Green, KY to the late Sadie Burch Hampton and Hubert Hampton. Babylove as she was known to many departed this life on July 4, 2020, at the age of 83. Babylove graduated from State Street High School in 1954. Thou she had no formal education or training after high school, she cultivated her skills in child care development. Her career spanned more than 40 years. Babylove began her career at Bowling Green Day Care Center. She enhanced her skills as a teacher at Little Treasurers Day Care where she was promoted to the position of Assistant Director. She worked at Little Treasurers for more than 20 years before relocating to Community Action Day Care Center where she retired. Babylove professed her faith in Christ at an early age. Mother Byrd was a loving, dedicated, and committed member of Trinity Full Gospel Baptist Church. She served and functioned in the following capacities: served on the Mother’s Board, former president of the Mass Choir, served as chairperson of the Kitchen Committee, and faithful member of the Pastor’s Aide where she served three pastors. She loved to sing. On many occasions, she shared her melodious voice with the Trinity congregation. Her favorite song that she loved to lead was “I Really Love the Lord”. Babylove was united in holy matrimony to Walter Eugene (Buddy) Byrd, who preceded her in death. She was blessed in her life to have six children. Her love for her children was unconditional and everlasting. Two of her children: Kurt Cornell Byrd and Trent Montel Apple preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Catherine Baker, Ferronia Hampton, and Lauretta Jewell; four brothers: Hubert Hampton, Maxwell Hampton, Morton Hampton, and Joseph Hampton. Babylove leaves to mourn her passing four children: Gary Wilford Byrd, Terres Dannice Harrison, Myrick Delaney (Shannon) Byrd, and Marco Tomassi Byrd. A loving & devoted sister, Vivian Hampton, who cared for her thru the last days of her life. She also leaves to mourn 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, special friend: Patricia Marlow, special niece & nephew: Cherrilyn Hawes, Rosmond (Chuckle) Lee, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
