Etta M. Pritchett

May 3, 1927 - September 1, 2021

Mrs. Etta Mae Pritchett …was born in Pittsburg, PA, on May 3, 1927, a daughter of the late Thurston Maxey and Louise Rogan Maxey. Etta Mae was a graduate of State Street High School and attended Tennessee State University. As the oldest member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church, Etta Mae professed her faith in Christ at the age of 9 years old. Etta Mae served her church faithfully as a Willing Workers and Kitchen Committee member, as long as her health allowed. Etta Mae was formerly employed by Scotts Tobacco, 10 years and with Cutler-Hammer for 15 years. She was a member of the Elks Lodge Hattie Wolfe Temple #933; past Daughter Ruler American Legion Post 209. A devoted and caring mother who loved her children and grandchildren, who took much delight in cooking, and watching her family enjoy her green beans and cheesecake. Etta Mae was married to the late Julius Pritchett. On, Tuesday, September 1, 2021, at St. Rose Hospital in Hayward, CA, Etta Mae at the generous age of 94 years, 3 months, and 29 days, answered her call to rest from all her labor. Along with Etta Mae’s parents and husband she was predeceased by her daughter, Canasta Jewell; granddaughter, Jade Jewell; brother, Leroy Parrish; grandparents, Lee and Lovie Evans. To cherish the memories of Etta Mae Pritchett she leaves her children, Theodis (Shirley) Maxey, Los Angeles, CA, Eric Maxey, Hayward, CA, and Arnai Maxey, Oakland, CA; grandchildren, Joseph Jewell, Thomas Jewell, and India Jewell; great-grandchildren, Torian, Caleb, Jameelah, Joseph, Abdullah “Amir”, Jade and Terione; great-grandchild, Joseph IV; niece, Marisa Duarte; a host of many relatives and friends.
