Donna E. Byrd

September 2, 1961 - May 12, 2021

Donna Elaine Byrd was born on September 2, 1961, in Louisville, Kentucky. She later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she attended Get Smart Elementary, Ben Geyer Junior High, and South Side High School. Donna was baptized into the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she was active as a sabbath school teacher, choir member, and usher. She became a certified nursing assistant and worked in various nursing facilities, both in Fort Wayne, Indiana and in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Donna was a loving and nurturing caregiver, not just as an employee, but also in caring for her family. She enjoyed traveling. Having lived in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and California, she moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky, and made that her final home. Donna was a lively person. She enjoyed being with her family, eating, working puzzles, and was a very competitive gamer. Not only was she competitive, but she loved teaching you how to play the games. Though Donna had no children, she was a mother to many in her neighborhood, often taking families into her home in order to provide shelter. She loved kids, and kids loved her. She had a special connection to her nieces and nephews. She was affectionately referred to as “TT.” One of her many pleasures was her love of music. On any given day, you could hear music coming from her home. A look inside would find her busting a move. Donna is survived by her mother, Shirley Hudson Jackson; four sisters, Dorothy Hudson Reeves (Anthony), Tracey Hudson Wattley (Darrell), Renee Hudson Carter, and Brenda Karol Byrd-Solomon; three brothers, Douglas H. Hudson (Lisa), Marcus L. Hudson (Kimberla) and Reverend Boris Kaelin Byrd; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. She is preceded in death by her sister, Frances Hudson Knight, and father John Byrd. Donna’s absence will be felt by many. Her smile and her laughter will always be remembered. Sincerely, -Your friends at Burnam and Son
