Arverta Alexander

May 9, 1927 - September 28, 2020

Arverta Alexander was born May 9, 1927, in Waterview, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Burton Allen and Hattie Alexander Allen. Arverta was a graduate of Waterview High School and was a former employee of Mary’s Restaurant, Western Hills Restaurant, Bowling Green Jr. High School as a Home Economic Assistant and retiree of Holley Carburetor. Arverta was a former member of Beech Grove Presbyterian Church, Bristow Presbyterian Church, Eleventh Street Baptist Church where she served on the Pastor’s Aide and currently a member of the State Street Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and NJ Temple Missionary. Often while visiting various churches Arverta would be asked to sing a solo, using just one of her many gifts and talents. In, 1955, Arverta married William Alexander, in Burkesville, KY. She also enjoyed sewing, baking her specialties (Jam cake, and lemon meringue pie), decorating for the holidays, and tending to her flowers. No matter how tired Arverta may have been she always made time to play outside with her children and grandchildren. Enjoying life is what Arverta did, whether it was out walking, doing her neighbors hair or going through her pretty clothes as her husband said it best she was a “Good Woman”. On, Monday, September 28, 2020, Arverta received rest from all her labor as she joined those gone before; her parents: siblings Frank Allen, James Allen, Charles Allen, Genetta Alexander, and Lolater Allen. To cherish the loving memory of Arverta Alexander she leaves her loving husband of 65 years, William Alexander; children, Sherlien Crabtree, Ernest (Sarah) Alexander, Martha (Jesse) Amerson, and Evelyn (Raymond) Miles; 9 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; sister, Roberta Coe; a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sincerely, -Your friends at Burnam and Son
