Willie Mae Pheal

Mrs. Willie Mae Pheal was born in Coffeeville, MS, the oldest of 10 children born to the late Edwin and Essie Foxx Covington on, October 12, 1950. Willie Mae confessed her life to Christ at the age of 12 years old, thus being her start to serving and praising her Lord and Savior. She was an honor roll student at Central High School and graduated in May of 1968. Willie Mae attended Mississippi Valley State for a semester but had to leave college upon the death of her mother to take care of her newborn sister and other siblings. Willie Mae moved to Alton, IL in 1970 to be close to her family and then later moved to St. Louis, MO, where she began employment at White Castle and met the love of her life Willie Pheal. They were married on, April 14, 1975, in Alton, IL. In, 1981, Willie and Willie Mae moved with their two children Bridgett and Michele to Bowling Green, KY. Willie Mae was a stay-at-home mom with her children for several years, until she began employment with the Warren County Public School System as a cafeteria worker at Warren Central High School. This is where Willie Mae enjoyed and loved being able to share a smile, a kind word, maybe even a hug to hundreds of students for many years until her retirement in May of 2015. Also, during this time, Willie Mae was an active member of Trinity Full Gospel Church, where she served on the Usher Board, led the Junior Ushers, and was involved in the Women’s ministry. After her retirement she developed a close relationship with her friends “The Golden Girls” and enjoyed attending weekly lunches and bible study. Willie Mae was all that you could ask for in a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved traveling and spending time with her siblings. Family was important to her, and she loved them all. On Thursday, June 15, 2023, Willie Mae was given rest from all her labor as she journeyed to her home beyond the skies. Willie Mae's memories will forever be held dear by her daughters, Bridgett Gatewood and Veronica “Michele” Pheal. Bonus Children: Kathy (Chester) Motley, Willie (Torinda) Pheal, Maurice Pheal, Tyrone Pheal, Antonio (Nikki) Walker, and James Matlock. Grandchildren: JoTavien, Jaiden, Cameron, Kennedy, Jayce, Keisha, Candice, Kayla, NoToshia, Tanarrio, LaTricia, Arius, Markita, Maurice, Tyrica, Michael, Tyra, Kati, and Mabel. Stepmother, Carrie Covington. Siblings: Mary Ann (Calvin) Hoskin, Linda Faye Covington, Edwin (Shirley) Covington, Maggie Louise (Will) Baggett, Sheila (Kenneth) Slaughter, Sandra (Lee) Smith, Samuel Covington, Regina Covington, and Jessica Covington, a host of great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
