Marian Chantay Offutt

Marian Chantay Offutt was the only daughter born to the late Vernon William Offutt and Helen Marie Pearson Offutt, on December 1, 1960. Chantay as her family and closest of friends called her peacefully moved to her eternal home on Monday, March 6, 2023, at TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 5 days. Chantay was baptized, November 26, 1972, and joined the State Street Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as an Usher and worked with the Women’s Ministry. On April 7, 2008, Chantay joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, continuing to serve as an Usher and work in the Women’s Ministry. In August of 2022, Chantay felt the call to go back home to State Street Baptist Church, again serving faithfully, attending bible study and serving with the Pastor’s Aide Committee. Chantay enjoyed reading her bible and her studies taught her how to be a loving and nurturing mother to her daughter Asti. Chantay was a 1978, graduate of Bowling Green High School and was formerly employed by Bowling Green City School as a Crossing Guard. Chantay was also a Correctional Officer at the Warren County Regional Jail specializing in working with juveniles in the detention center. After two years she was promoted to Sergeant. Chantay then went to Green River Boys Detention Camp as a Youth Security Officer. Because of her passion for working with children, Chantay joined the staff at Community Action as a Daycare Teacher and later at Sunshine House Academy over the nursery. Due to Chantay’s health, she was forced to retire from the public workforce and babysit children in need from her home. Chantay loved gospel music and would listen to it while baking her famous peach cobblers and apple pies. She was a sports enthusiast watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and University of Kentucky Wildcats, two of her favorite teams. With God first in her life, family was definitely the next most important part of Chantay’s life. She loved spending time with them, taking care of all the children around her, being that mother, sister, aunt, and friend who wanted so much for those she loved. But the bond that Chantay shared with her daughter Asti, that was unexplainable so much so that Chantay felt her greatest accomplishment in life was being a mother to her beautiful loving and devoted daughter, Asti. To cherish the loving memory of Marian Chantay Offutt, she leaves her daughter Asti Offutt; brothers, Don (Dorothy) Offutt, Tracy Offutt, and Kem (Vivian) Offutt; nieces and nephews; lifelong best friend, most trusted girl pal and confidante, DeAnna Withrow Lewis; bonus daughter whom she loved, protected, fought for and will cherish forever, Carrie Withrow; a host of other relatives and friends.
