Betty Crayton

On Sunday, February 1, 2026, @ 8:10AM, Betty Jean Williams Crayton completed her earthly mission while at the Barren County Nursing Home and entered into her eternal home. She was born October 2, 1935, to the late Walter and Lucille Williams in Hiseville, KY. Betty professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Glasgow KY. After retiring and moving back to the area, she later moved her letter to Queens Chapel Baptist Church in Hiseville, KY where she was the former church treasurer, missionary president, member of the combined Queens Chapel and Pleasant Union Choir, chairperson of their annual Thanksgiving and Christmas Canned Food Drive and also served as chairperson for the Black History Program held at the church. After graduating from Ralph Bunch High School, she pursued a career at AT&T Telephone Company in Chicago, Illinois as a telephone operator for 30 years. Upon her retirement, Betty moved to Bowling Green, KY and worked for the Warren County School System as a bus monitor for many years and later for Home Instead. Betty lived a long and fulfilling life and enjoyed participating in community activities. She was a member of the Bowling Green Chapter NAACP and AARP. She was also member of the Big Brother/Big Sister organization. She took pride in serving in all of the organizations in which she was involved in and served until her health began to fail. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Ann Bevel, Jewell Green, Walter Williams, Jr. and Eddie Williams. She will be remembered for her love of spending cherished moments with family and friends. Betty is survived by a loving sister, Minnie (James) Jones, Edmonton, KY; nephew and caregivers, Marc (Jeanette) Jones, Bowling Green, KY, nephews, Jerome (Daphne) Bevel, Waterloo, Iowa, Walt (Nikki) Bevel, Des Moines Iowa and Maurice Jones, Glasgow, KY: niece and caregivers, Phyllis (Chris) Norris, Glasgow, KY, nieces, Roxanna Conner (Ron) Chicago, Illinois and Erica (Ezell) Hudson, Clarksville, TN. great nephews; Malcom and Kwame Bevel, Walter Jones ,Khali Conner and Ezell Hudson III; great nieces, Sole Bevel and Layla Conner; great greats, Noah and Leilani Jones, Seth Bevel and a host of cousins and friends.
