Willie Lee (Reuben) Cornelius

March 28, 1922 - March 23, 2012

Mr. Willie L. "Reuben" . Cornelius, age 89, of Russellville, KY, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Auburn Nursing Home in Auburn, KY. Mr.Cornelius was employed by Citizens National Bank and retired after 18 years of service. Willie was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Russellville; where he was a Deacon for over 47 years, Treasurer for over 25 years and former Sunday School President and Superintendent. At the time of Willie's death, he was the oldest Deacon and member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed going fishing and hunting. Willie loved his pet beagles, Ike and Mike, and also was a member of Fred Douglas #72 F & AM Prince Hall Mason. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Willie was predeceased in death by his parents, George Cornelius and Ida Gough Cornelius; his wife, Sally K. Temple Cornelius; children, Kenneth R. Cornelius, Betty Petus, Samuel E. Cornelius; sisters and brothers, Mary Lucy Hughes, Elve Corneilus and George Washington, Jr and Melvin Cornelius. Willie is survived by his children, Michael Lee (Dorothy) Cornelius, Russellville KY, Willie E. (Sandra) Cornelius, Bowling Green KY, Elder Rorger W. (Charlene) Cornelius, Lexington KY, David S. (Mary) Corneilus, Houston,TX, Patsy K. Spencer, Evansville, IN, Sandra A. (Paul) Major, Newport News, VA; sister in law, Josephine Holman, Owensboro KY; brother in law, Robert (Annette) Moss, Indianapolis IN; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives , special friends and a loving church family.
