Virginia L. Cooke Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Virginia Louise Odom Cooke...was born August 19, 1937, in Cross Plains Tennessee, a daughter of the late Walter Allison Odom and Francis E. Jackson Odom. At an early age, Virginia united with the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cross Plains, TN. After moving to Bowling Green she joined the New Bethel Baptist Church and Trinity Full Gospel Church. Virginia was now a faithful and dedicated member of the Icy Sink Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and with the Women’s Ministry. Upon meeting a handsome and loving young man at Nancy’s Tea Room and being swept off her feet, Virginia and Clyde Cooke were joined in marriage on, January 3, 1966, at the home of Rev. Herschel Halsell. Virginia was an active member and Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star No. 126. She loved attending the Grand Lodge meetings and being with her fellow brothers and sisters. Virginia loved reading her bible, working search puzzles and watching the game show network. Virginia worked as a Nurses Aide for over 39 years with the Warren County Hospital/Medical Center of Bowling Green. On, Sunday, October 20, 2019, with her husband and friends by her side, Virginia stood at the door and as her Heavenly Father welcomed her home at the generous age of 82 years. Along with her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Anderson; brothers and sisters, Joe Odom, Herbert Odom, Marie Stalling, Estelle Odom, and Robert Lee Odom; brother-in-law, Fredrick William Cooke. To cherish the loving memory of Virginia Louise Odom Cooke she leaves her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Clyde Cooke; granddaughter, Cynthia Anderson; sisters and brothers, Beulah (George H.) Bunton, Barbara (Robert) Bunton, Linda (John) Kirkman and David (Donna) Odom; in-laws, Clydene Hayes, and Phillip Allen Cooke; special friends, Joyce Boards, Retha Halcomb, (devoted) Mary & James Sears; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
