Rev. Roy L. Anthony

The Rev. Roy L. Anthony, 81, of Bowling Green, died Jan. 3, 2010, at The Medical Center. The Bowling Green native was born May 8, 1928. He was pastor of Jackson Baptist Church for 40 years, attended Oakland Elementary School and was an employee of Honey Crust Bakery for many years. He worked at Durbins Department Store for 20 years and the Houchens Foundation. He was a son of the late Porter Anthony and Ora Lewis Anthony and the husband of the late Mary Helen Anthony. He was preceded in death by stepchildren: Glenn Martin Sr., Myron Martin Sr. and Norma Jean Kendall; three brothers: Howard Earl Anthony, Lorenzo Anthony and James Anthony; and an aunt: Calene Hayes. Funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Burnam & Son Mortuary, with burial in Loving Union CME Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Martin, Toni Duerson, Latrice Martin and Larry Humphrey, all of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers: Rev. Thomas Anthony (Patricia), and Rev. Harry L. Anthony (Mary Rose), all of Bowling Green, KY; a sister: Gloria Anthony, of Bowling Green, KY; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
