Robert "Mack" Smith

November 29, 1967 - November 1, 2013

Robert McConnell “Mack” Smith was born on November 29, 1967 in Glasgow, KY to the late Robert T. “R. T.” Smith and Eva L. Smith. Robert was baptized at an early age in life, professing his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Robert was a member of Little Barren Baptist Church, Sulphur Well, KY. Robert departed this life on Friday, November 1, 2013, at his home in Bowling Green, KY. Robert was a football coach and teacher for many years. He taught and coached at Trigg County, Bardstown, Harrodsburg, John Hardin, Warren East and Barren County schools. Presently, he was employed by the Bowling Green Independent Schools, at The Academy at Eleventh Street. He received a Bachelor and Master’s of Science in Physical Education, Post- Baccalaureate in Secondary Education, Rank 1 in Exceptional Education from Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, KY. Robert was the founder of “Project Success” – Mentoring program for African American males while at Trigg County School. Robert was married to Cheri Harris Smith, and to this union two sons were born, Thomas Les McConnell Smith and Miles Sheridan McConnell Smith. Thomas and Miles were his heart, and he enjoyed every moment doing different activities with them. Robert loved his family and his friends, and he was love to everyone he knew. Robert was an avid sportsman, he loved coaching football, farming and hunting. The farm was his joy. Robert was preceded in death by his father Robert T. Smith, grandparents Les and Birtha Smith and Cleo and Ethel Lambirth. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Les McConnell Smith and Miles Sheridan McConnell Smith, Mother, Eva L. Smith, Sister, Robbie Smith Potter (Raymond). Brothers, Leslie Thomas Smith (Wanda) And Nathaniel L. Smith (Earlene). Aunts, Ruth Underwood (Leonard), and Connie Franklin (Haywood), Uncle Leon N. Lambirth (Purna), and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A special friend Sarah Neal. Sincerely, -Your friends at Burnam and Son
