Marshall L. Jones

July 9, 1948 - September 17, 2021

Marshall Lee Jones….was born, July 9, 1948, in Clarksville, Tennessee, son of the late Walter J. Jones, Jr., and Betty Johnson Jones. Marshall was a graduate of Burt High School where he played football. He received his BS from Lane College, Jackson, Tennessee, and his MS from Murray State. Marshall is a lifetime member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity; Dean of Pledges at Murray State University Chapter, Former Polemach for the Hopkinsville/Clarksville Alumni Chapter. Marshall taught Science, Health, and PE for over 27 years with the Christian County School System. He coached both boys and girls basketball as a part of the 1985, Boys State Championship team; he also coached track and field and football. Not only was Marshall active in the school system but the community as well. He coached the Special Olympics Boys State Championship Team and was involved with Pioneers Incorporated and The Breakfast Club. As a mentor, Marshall helped many young men and women find their pathway to success. Marshall was a member of the Oakland Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as an Usher. On, Friday, September 17, 2021, Marshall joined those passed before him: Parents Walter and Betty Jones, Herschell Turner; stepbrothers Nicky Turner and Donald Turner. To cherish the loving memory of Marshall Lee Jones, he leaves his wife, Glistine Green Jones; his children, Jemal (Mechelle) Jones, Darrus (Ellie) Jones, and Marius (Jennifer) Jones; Stepmother, Marva Turner; grandchildren, Khalid (Kendra), Irish, Riannah, Jahfi, Jaylen, Avionna, Kalyssa, Nadia, Gisele, Jim, Evie and Zane; Goddaughter, Catherine (Gavin) Forbes; stepbrothers Victor Turner, Len Turner, and Timothy Turner; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives,and friends.
