Lorett Allen

January 3, 1935 - April 19, 2012

LORETT ALLEN was born on January 3, 1935 in Prentiss, Mississippi to Ms. Elizabeth Mullins-Allen. He was baptized into Christ at an early age. He was affectionately known to friends and family as simply, “Allen”. He was an above-average student, had many friends in school and was very handsome, personable and popular. In 1955 he joined the U.S. Army and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his tour, he spent many years in Europe before returning to the United States. Upon is return, while stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas, he met Mary Jane, the love of his life. Together, they raised a beautiful family of eight amazing children. He loved to travel, and arranged many weekend road trips for his colleagues in Bowling Green. Family cookouts, good music and ‘bid whiz’ card games were all it took to make him smile.. When General Motors moved the Corvette Plant to Kentucky, Allen decided to relocate with them. He had many friends at the plant and in his later years he served as the UAW Civil Rights Chairman. When he retired, he had been an employee in good standing with General Motors for over 38 years. Allen enjoyed family gatherings and delighted in the company of all his children, particularly his youngest sons, Ricky and Tony. He adored his 22 grandchildren and we all know his great-grandchildren held an extra special place in his heart. Allen departed this life on April 19, 2012. He leaves to mourn his passing, Mary Jane; his children, Audrey Fleming, Los Angeles, CA.; Roger Fleming, San Antonio, TX.; Carmen Forniss (Keith) Atlanta, GA; Marc Fleming (Yvette) Atlanta, GA.; Robert Fleming, Los Angeles, CA.; Ricky Allen Fleming, Bowling Green, KY.; daughter, Esther Allen; and his Uncle James Ward (Effie) of Prentiss, MS.; Our beloved Allen is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth, his brother Lynn Edward Allen, daughter, Deborah Fleming, sons Lynn Allen (Lynn is survived by his three children, Dmarius, Jariyah and Ja’Shaur all of Mississippi) and Tony Allen Fleming and grandson Steven Fleming. Sincerely, -Your friends at Burnam and Son
