Lillian Evelyn Cosby

August 23, 1934 - May 19, 2020

Mrs. Lillian Evelyn Cosby was born, August 23, 1934, in Hartsville, Trousdale County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Robert Price Marshall, and Ora Lillian Marshall Rickman. Evelyn as she was affectionally called by all that knew her travel her path to Glory on, Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at the blessed age of 85 years, surrounded by her loving family. On, December 22, 1956, Evelyn married the man of her dreams James Cosby, Jr., and thus started her life as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and so much more. Evelyn was a faithful and dedicated member of the Eleventh Street Baptist Church where she founded Senior Citizens Day, sung with the choir, and headed up a program honoring High School graduates. Evelyn was previously employed by Lifeskills, and the Bowling Green City Schools System as a Crossing Guard at 3rd and State Streets and as a Receptionist at the Sr. High School. More than anything Evelyn loved taking care of children. Over the years all the children that she kept called her “Ma”. Ma loved each and every child that came thru her door and they loved Ma. Cooking was Evelyn’s specialty and she fried chicken that only a few can imitate, her white cake with caramel sauce “ James’ favorite” and German chocolate cake no one could touch, but everybody loved her macaroni and cheese. Even with all the other things Evelyn had going on in her life she would take the time to sew. If you needed a fashionable prom dress, wedding gown, or maternity clothing just give her a call and she would fix you right up. Along with Evelyn’s husband and parents she was preceded in death by daughters,Lillian Cosby and Janet Cosby-Waller; brothers and sisters, Melvin, Price Jr., J.W., Gladys and Mattie Lou. To cherish the loving memory of Lillian Evelyn Cosby, she leaves her daughters, Darlene Collins, and LaDonna (Damon) Byrd; grandchildren, Glenn II (Crystal), Schuyler, Cameron, Candace (Hovie), Chase, and Cierra; special grandchildren, Arcola and Jerrita; great-grandchildren, Reese, Julian Michael, Britton, Morrion, Collins, Stevie, Broderick, Jovie, Kei'maunie, and Jamale; Goddaughters, Emaj'e, Yolonda and Minyawn; in-laws, Louise Cosby, Walden Pratt, Charles (Peggy) Cosby, Charlene (James) Gamble, and Geneva Cosby; devoted niece, Tyra Gamble; special niece, Anna Calhoun, Madison and Amya; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, and a devoted son-in-law James "Brotha" Waller.
