Helen Jean Claypool

Helen Jean “Pug” Claypool, 66, of Bowling Green died Nov. 12, 2007, at a Bowling Green nursing home. She retired from the position of social services coordinator for the Headstart of Southern Kentucky Program after 28 years of service. She was a 1957 graduate of State Street High School. She was a daughter of the late Harold Ragland and Mary “Maggie” Hooker and the wife of the late Oscar W. Claypool. She was preceded in death by a sister, Chevalier Chambers; and a brother, Harold Ragland Jr. Memorial service is at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at State Street Baptist Church, where she was a member, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Cremation was chosen. Visitation begins at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burnam & Son Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to State Street Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society. Survivors include a godchild, Justice Owmby of Bowling Green; a sister, Mary Ragland Patterson of Bowling Green; a brother, James F. Ragland of Louisville; a special aunt, Christine Elliott and her husband, James, of Bowling Green; a special uncle, James Vernon Ragland of Bowling Green; and several other aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
