Evalina Edmonds

Evalina “Wienie” Starks Edmonds, 96 passed away on Monday,June 3,2013 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born on April 17, 1917, in Alvaton, Kentucky to James and Earnie Jewell Starks. Evalina grew up in Alvaton, Kentucky were she attended elementary school. Evalina was a homemaker and farmer for many years. She worked for Dr. Scott and his family for many years and during that time grew a very close and loving friendship with Mrs. Scott. Evalina married Ollie J. Edmonds in Alvaton, Kentucky. They were happily married for 52 years until his death. Evalina was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church; where she faithfully served as Secretary and Treasurer. She enjoyed quilting and working hard in her garden. She spent endless hours tending to her flowers and always managed to take the time to enjoy and cook a wonderful meal. She also loved children, jewelry, shopping for nice fashions and fine linens. With a strong will and determination, she became a loving mother to Kathy and Montie. Evalina was preceded in death by her parents, James Starks and Earnie Jewell Starks; sisters, Wilhelmina Brown, Frances C. Edmonds and Beatrice B. Martin. She is survived by her special niece, Barbara Gantt, of Lousiville, Kentucky; nephews, Andrew Gantt, of Louisville, Kentucky and Montie Brown, of Alvaton, Kentucky; nieces, Kathy Bailey and her husband Michael, Mallory Bailey and Chelsea Bailey all of Memphis, Tennessee.
