Emmart R. Barnett

April 12, 1928 - September 14, 2020

Emmart Rochester Barnett was born, April 12, 1928, in Richpond, Kentucky, the youngest son of the late Jerry D. Barnett and Roberta Louise Buford Barnett-Woods. Emmart was a 1957, graduate of State Street High School and served in the United States Army. Emmart was a member of the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church and attended the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church where he served both churches with dedication as a pianist.Emmart was a 25-year retired employee of Cutler Hammer/Eaton Corp. and was also employed by Kirby Loid and Big Star as a Security Guard. On, August 12, 1956, Emmart married the love of his life Dorothy Louise Humbles and together they built a home filled with love and happiness. Emmart enjoyed being with his family, his grandchildren even nicknamed him “Black Elvis”. To go fishing and hunting was relaxation for Emmart. Scouring through juke (salvage) and working with his hands made him a happy man. On, Monday, September 14, 2020, Emmart found rest from all his labor as he crossed over at the generous age of 92 years. Joining those gone before him; his parents, siblings, Maurice & Carlene Barnett, James M. & Mattie Barnett, Tonie & Leon Jenkins,Allean & Roy Grainger, and Louise Bunton; stepsisters, Alphonso Fox, Charlene Clasby, Lois & George Kimbrough and granddaughter, Megan Davidson. To cherish the loving memory of Emmart R. Barnett his leaves a loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Dorothy Louise Barnett; children, Dwight (Vivian) Barnett, Dwaine (Vicky) Barnett, Phillip Barnett and Tammy Michelle Barnett; grandchildren, Danyel, Morgan, Brittany, Cheyenne and Jocelyn; great grandchildren, Miquel, Miyah, Cyah, Drew, Will, Alex and Makaila; step sisters, Barthenia Grainger and Ada Berry; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. *LIVE STREAMING WILL BE BROADCAST VIA BURNAM & SON FACEBOOK PAGE at 12:30 PM Sincerely, -Your friends at Burnam and Son
